During the ILS approach of RW07, no lights light up that the landing gear is locked. When the crew is busy with this, they do not pay enough attention to the course of the aircraft. As a result, it descends into the waters of Santa Monica Bay (location +-1km 33°55'13.78"N 118°31'58.46"W ), 11km west of Los Angeles, and breaks into 3 pieces. There are 15 deaths.

Climbs very steeply (with supercritical angle) to 100m altitude, gets stalled and hits the ground. There are 61 deaths. Possible cause: unintentional unfolding of the spoilers or a malfunction in 2 engines due to icing. 1st flight : 1969 c/n 46057 flight 446 Location : +-500m 55°58'07"N 37°23'06"E

The DC-8 lands 740m past the threshold of RW15L (2240m before the end) at a speed of 146 kts. The crew does not make sufficient use of the maximum braking capacity (brakes and thrust reversers) so that the aircraft shoots through at the end of the runway and comes to a stop 80m further on a road and catches fire (location +-25 [m] 37°52'25.95"N 23°44'27.39"E ). What also played a role was that the runway was polluted. Flight from Geneva (GVA) to Athens (ATH).
